Bag Filter Extends RO Membrane Life from 15 to 60 Days
Country: Saudi Arabia
Project: Seawater Desalination Pretreatment Upgrade Project
Technology: YUBO 4# D24 Multi‑Bag Filter System (with 20μm Polyester Filter Bags)
The Challenge
A seawater desalination plant in Saudi Arabia draws its raw water from the Arabian Gulf—high in turbidity, heavy with sediment, and teeming with marine organisms and algae. The plant's outdated pretreatment equipment simply couldn't handle the load. Suspended solids, silt, and biological matter kept slipping through, steadily fouling the downstream RO membranes. The membrane system required shutdown and cleaning every 15 days—a relentless cycle that drove the maintenance team to exhaustion and sent membrane replacement costs through the roof.
The Solution
The plant introduced YUBO's 4# D24 multi-bag filter system, equipped with 20-micron polyester filter bags. The system reliably captures sediment, suspended solids, and marine organisms from the seawater stream. Its 316L stainless steel housing is specifically engineered to withstand the highly corrosive chloride-rich environment of seawater applications, ensuring long-term durability.

The Results
Following the installation, the improvements were substantial:
• RO membrane cleaning intervals extended from 15 days to 60 days—a 4x improvement
• Overall desalination system water production efficiency increased by 12%
• Annual membrane replacement costs reduced by approximately RMB 200,000 (~USD 28,000)
