The Challenge

A large commercial complex in China had been operating its central air conditioning system for many years. Over time, the circulating cooling water became contaminated with suspended solids—including sand, silt, and pipe corrosion debris. These impurities progressively fouled the chiller heat exchanger tubes, leading to significant scaling buildup. As a result, heat transfer efficiency steadily declined, chiller cooling capacity noticeably deteriorated, and overall system energy consumption remained persistently high.

The Solution

To address this issue, the complex installed a YUBO TGF-400G basket strainer at the chiller inlet. The strainer effectively captures and removes suspended impurities from the cooling water stream, preventing them from entering the heat exchanger.

The Results

Following installation, the system delivered measurable improvements:

• Scaling conditions improved significantly, with chiller cooling efficiency restored to over 95%

• Annual electricity cost savings of approximately RMB 120,000 (~USD 16,500)

• Maintenance intervals extended from quarterly to semi-annually, reducing downtime and labor costs
