Candle Filter System Boosts SBR Rubber Production Efficiency by 18%
Country: South Korea
Project: SBR Rubber Production Line Filtration Optimization Project
Technology: Candle Filtration System
The Challenge
A major petrochemical company in South Korea faced persistent quality issues on their SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) production line. The high-viscosity polymer melt contained gel-like impurities with a broad particle size distribution. Their existing filtration system lacked the precision to effectively capture micron-sized gel particles, allowing a significant portion to pass through to downstream processes. This resulted in surface defects on the final rubber products and considerable fluctuations in the first-pass yield rate. The current filtration efficiency simply could not meet the stringent requirements for high-end product manufacturing.
The Solution
The production line was upgraded with a candle filtration system, incorporating YUBO's DXZF-D1000 candle filter. The system utilizes metal fiber sintered candle filter elements specifically engineered for high-viscosity applications. These elements feature a unique "fold-on-fold" design that substantially increases the effective filtration area. Constructed from 316L stainless steel, they withstand the high-temperature, high-pressure conditions typical of SBR production while delivering stable removal of gel particles and hard contaminants ranging from 0.5 to 100 microns—effectively resolving the precision limitations of traditional filtration equipment.

The Results
Following the deployment of the candle filtration system, the production line achieved:
• 18% increase in filtration efficiency
• 12% reduction in annual equipment maintenance costs
• Complete elimination of product defects caused by impurities, ensuring consistent production stability for high-viscosity polymer products.
