Background
A tourist hotel on an island in the Philippines faced a scarcity of freshwater resources and had long relied on purchasing expensive bottled drinking water. To meet its freshwater demand, the hotel consulted YUBO regarding seawater desalination equipment.
Challenge
The hotel is located along the coast, with challenging construction conditions. Seawater quality fluctuates significantly due to tides and seasonal changes. The nearshore waters contain high levels of algae, plastic waste, and other pollutants.
Solution
YUBO supplied three pre-commissioned, containerized skid-mounted equipment clusters. After being transported to the site, the skids were placed on a leveled, hardened foundation, stacked accordingly, and connected via piping. The system was ready for operation upon power connection.
The first (bottom) skid employs YGXF series filters to remove most particles, algae, and other contaminants. The water then enters a chemical pretreatment stage, including sterilization and flocculation, followed by multi-media filtration. The second (middle) skid performs precision filtration and scale inhibition treatment. After pressurization by high-pressure pumps, the water enters the third (top) containerized skid for RO reverse osmosis desalination to produce freshwater. The product water undergoes post-treatment for mineral stabilization before being stored in the drinking water collection tank.
The entire system integrates automatic chemical dosing, pressure monitoring, automatic backwashing, and a PLC control system. Once powered, the system operates automatically without manual intervention.
Result
Since its commissioning in April 2023, YUBO's containerized seawater desalination system has been providing the hotel with 20 tons of drinking water per day.
